Heart Eater

At the moment I am currently finishing the last figure in the Games Workshop Warcry series Untamed Beasts.

The final model I have to complete is "Heart Eater".

Assembled without cloak and primed in Corax White.

With all the models painted in the series so far I have started with the skin.  This time I will be using the Heavy Skin Tone from the Vallejo Game colour Opaque range and see how that works out.  I can't remember using that colour before so it will be new for me.

I am quite happy with the flesh tone. I used a cheap brush size 00  that I bought as a batch from
E-bay and they seem to be working out quite well.  The wet palette was a homemade job using a chinese takeaway lid and tissue.  I have got some brush cleaner now to keep the bristles of the brushes in shape and clean.

I have recently moved from Wales to London and am picking up bits and pieces as I go along as my full hobby kit is did not come with me.

Next I will either highlight the skin or apply a wash then highlight.

Here is a picture of the wet palette I made.  I should mention I have only been painting occasionally for a couple of years and am still learning as I go.  I first had a go at painting a lead miniature with limited paint before I was a teen ( I am nearly 50 now ).  Back then when I subscribed to White Dwarf magazine they did not have the miniatures they do now, it was for RPG's only.

In this picture I have added shade ( Reikland ) and in the background are a pair of what are described as "nerd glasses" on E-bay which magnify the miniature when I paint.  I find this helps me considerably with my poor eyesight.  I have not worked on the mini for a week or so as I am in the process of moving full time now out of London and have been away moving. Next then I will highlight the model.

I have not done any thing with this model for a while as I have been busy with other commitments but this Sunday I have added some highlights to the flesh tone to brighten it up a bit.  I used the same heavy skin tone vallejo opaque paint with a good solution of water so as not to lay on layers to heavily.
